For the suitcase I am designing, competitors can range from brands that individually create suitcases such as Samsonite, or just stores who sell suitcase ranges with no particular branding. Stores such as Matalan, John Lewis and Debenhams sell luggage therefore could all be competitors for my suitcase for MAC.
At John Lewis, their suitcases range from £49 to £140 for their own branded cases.
Samsonite range from £135 to £309 for their cabin size suitcases.
Matalan range from £35 to £50 for their small cases.
At Debenhams, cabin size suitcases range from £30 to £135
After looking at various brands and stores that sell cabin size suitcases, I have determined that my suitcase for MAC, I will price similarly to John Lewis and Debenhams, as they are brands on a similar market level to MAC. Pricing my MAC suitcase with similar prices to Samsonite would be too high, as Samsonite is a recognized and respectable suitcase selling brand, and MAC isn't therefore people would automatically go to Samsonite over MAC for this product if they were after a quality suitcase.
Matalan being a low market level brand, wouldn't be the right brand to refer to for prices either as MAC is a higher end brand than Matalan so would therefore be more expensive anyway.
I will therefore price my suitcase between £30 and £100.
